Description
A refreshing summer classic, this Southern Fresh Peach Sweet Tea combines juicy peaches and aromatic tea for a delightful beverage that captures the essence of summer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups filtered water
- 3 medium-size organic peaches, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup mild and light colored honey
- 4 cups filtered water
- 4 organic raspberry leaf tea bags
- 3–4 cups ice
Instructions
- In a medium-size saucepan, add the 1 ½ cups of water and over high heat, bring to a boil.
- Once the water has come to a boil, remove it from the heat and hang the tea bags inside the saucepan in the water, allowing the tags to hang over the side of the pan. Cover and allow to steep for 15 minutes.
- When the tea has steeped, remove the lid and gently squeeze the tea bags over the saucepan to release the extra tea goodness, then discard the bags.
- Carefully pour the tea into a heat-safe large pitcher or 64 oz (2 quart) mason jar (if your pitcher/jar is not heat-safe, allow to cool).
- In the same saucepan, add the 4 cups of water, sliced peaches, and honey, and heat over medium-high heat until boiling. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 7 minutes, mashing peaches around the 5-minute mark.
- Set a large fine mesh strainer on top of a heat-safe measuring cup. Pour the peach mixture through the strainer, pressing the solids to release juice, then discard the solids. Cool the syrup for 15 minutes.
- Once the syrup has cooled, pour it into the cooled tea and stir to combine.
- Add ice directly to the peach tea or to individual glasses. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute honey with agave nectar or maple syrup. You can also add a pinch of cayenne for a sweet and spicy kick.
