Description

Tender and flavorful beef ribs slow cooked in a rich barbecue sauce, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 x 300 – 350g beef ribs (aka beef short ribs), patted dry
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 3/4 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp cooking salt / kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • Parsley or chives, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef ribs dry and generously season with brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, the second portion of brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Mix until smooth.
  3. Place the seasoned beef ribs upright in your slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the top, ensuring that the ribs are coated well.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the ribs are tender and falling off the bone.
  5. Carefully remove the ribs and set on a plate. If desired, strain the sauce and reduce it in a pot on the stove.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or chives.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, allow the ribs to marinate overnight. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add additional brown sugar or honey.
