Ingredients
Scale
- 6 x 300 – 350g beef ribs (aka beef short ribs), patted dry
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 3/4 tsp mustard powder
- 1 tsp cooking salt / kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp mustard powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cups water
- Parsley or chives, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the beef ribs dry and generously season with brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, mustard powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- In a separate bowl, combine the minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, the second portion of brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Mix until smooth.
- Place the seasoned beef ribs upright in your slow cooker and pour the sauce mixture over the top, ensuring that the ribs are coated well.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the ribs are tender and falling off the bone.
- Carefully remove the ribs and set on a plate. If desired, strain the sauce and reduce it in a pot on the stove.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or chives.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, allow the ribs to marinate overnight. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, add additional brown sugar or honey.
