Description

Savory charred Brussels sprouts glazed with a sweet maple and tangy mustard, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. small-medium Brussels sprouts, stems trimmed and outer leaves removed
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons spicy brown or Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, grated or finely minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of fine salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to high heat, about 425 degrees Fahrenheit. If you are using wooden or bamboo skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Steam the Brussels sprouts for 4-5 minutes until they are slightly tender. Allow them to cool for 3-4 minutes after steaming.
  3. Thread the steamed Brussels sprouts carefully onto the skewers for even grilling.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, mustard, olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt, combining all the flavors. Reserve 1 tablespoon of the glaze for later.
  5. Brush the delectable glaze generously onto the skewered Brussels sprouts, ensuring every sprout is coated.
  6. Grill the skewers for about 6 minutes, turning them occasionally until they develop beautiful char marks.
  7. Drizzle the reserved glaze over the grilled Brussels sprouts before serving either hot or cold.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
