- 1 kg beef short ribs, butterflied Korean style
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 1/4 cup onion, finely grated
- 1/4 cup nashi pear, finely grated
- 2 tsp garlic, finely grated
- 2 tsp ginger, finely grated
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Green onion, for garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Coriander/cilantro leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Make the marinade by whisking together the soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, grated onion, nashi pear, garlic, ginger, water, toasted sesame oil, and black pepper until well combined.
- Marinade the beef in a ziplock bag or glass container, pour over the marinade, coat evenly, and let sit in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove the beef from the marinade and let excess drip off.
- Cook for about 5-7 minutes per side or until nicely charred and cooked to your desired doneness.
- Allow the beef to rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot, garnished with green onions, sesame seeds, and cilantro.
Notes
Consider basting the ribs with the marinade while grilling for enhanced flavor. The longer you marinate, the more flavorful the beef becomes.
