- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
- Tabasco sauce to taste (about 4 shakes)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts (or a combo of thighs and breasts)
- 2 medium onions (peeled and cut into fourths)
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 16 slider buns
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, Tabasco sauce, and garlic powder in a bowl. Mix until well blended and set aside.
- Spray the inside of a Dutch oven with cooking spray. Add chicken pieces and quartered onions.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken and onions, ensuring they are generously coated.
- Cover and cook for 1 1/2 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
- Remove chicken from the Dutch oven and shred it using two forks.
- Stir in about a cup of the sauce from the Dutch oven to the shredded chicken for extra flavor.
- Serve the flavorful chicken on heated or grilled slider buns, alongside coleslaw or guacamole for an added crunch and creaminess.
Notes
These sliders are best served hot, and you can marinate the chicken overnight for convenience.
