Description

A savory and tender slow-cooked BBQ pulled chicken recipe that fills your home with irresistible aromas and offers a comfort food experience perfect for family gatherings or cozy weeknight meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Combine barbecue sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Stir until blended.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
  5. Remove and shred the chicken with two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the sauce and stir.
  6. Serve immediately on buns, in tacos, over rice, or as desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use chicken thighs. Consider adding apple slices for sweetness during cooking or experimenting with different barbecue sauces.
