Description

A savory and tender BBQ pulled chicken recipe, perfect for family gatherings or cozy weeknight meals, cooked effortlessly in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 1½ cups barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Combine barbecue sauce, mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Stir until blended.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours until tender.
  5. Remove the chicken and shred with forks, then return to the sauce and stir.
  6. Serve on buns, in tacos, or over rice, optionally topping with extra barbecue sauce.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider using chicken thighs. Add apple slices during cooking for sweetness.
