Description

A delightful cherry dessert pizza topped with a golden crumble, perfect for every occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (about 105°-110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling (or about 2 cups homemade filling)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast in a large bowl. Let it rest for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Pour half of the vegetable oil into the yeast mixture, setting the remaining oil aside.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour and kosher salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a soft, sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a 12-inch pizza pan with parchment paper and pour the remaining vegetable oil onto the pan.
  6. Press the risen dough into the prepared pan evenly to the edges, creating dimples on the surface.
  7. Bake the dough for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Combine melted butter and granulated sugar in a small bowl. Remove crust from the oven and brush the butter-sugar mixture evenly over it. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  9. Mix flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and kosher salt in a medium bowl. Stir in melted butter until clumps form, then sprinkle evenly over the cherry pie filling.
  10. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for 13-15 minutes until the crumble is golden brown and crisp.
  11. Whisk together confectioners’ sugar, whole milk, and almond extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the warm dessert pizza.
  12. Allow the pizza to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute dairy butter with coconut oil and use plant-based milk. Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to enhance flavor.
