Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan with butter and a dusting of flour.
  2. Cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add in 3 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with 1 cup of buttermilk.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Let cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack.
  10. For the glaze, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk, then drizzle over the cooled cake.

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results. You may substitute buttermilk with regular milk and vinegar if needed.
