Description
Deliciously fluffy cinnamon rolls made using sourdough discard, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sourdough starter (discard)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
- Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Let the dough rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ½-inch thick and spread softened cream cheese evenly on top.
- Sprinkle with additional sugar and cinnamon if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the sliced rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- While baking, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to make frosting.
- Drizzle frosting over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated overnight before baking.
