Description

These Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes are a family favorite. Ground beef simmers in a rich tomato sauce for hours, creating the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 slices yellow cheese

Instructions

1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown ground beef 6–8 minutes. Drain grease.

2. Transfer beef to slow cooker. Add tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well.

3. Cook on HIGH 3 hours or LOW 6 hours.

4. Serve on hamburger buns with a slice of cheese.

Notes

Browning meat first adds depth of flavor.

Use lean beef to avoid greasy sauce.

Thicken with a cornstarch slurry if needed.

Freeze leftovers up to 3 months.
