Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large apples, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
- 2/3 cup loosely packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3–4 tablespoons softened butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, diced apples, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well until the apples are nicely coated.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a separate bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple mixture in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours until the apples are tender and bubbly.
- Once cooked, turn off the heat and let sit for one hour, covered, to allow the caramel sauce to thicken.
Notes
For a vegan twist, substitute butter with coconut oil and use maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
