Description

A warm, comforting dessert featuring tender apples infused with caramel, topped with a buttery crumble. Perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 large apples, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup loosely packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 34 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, granulated sugar, diced apples, salt, and cinnamon. Mix well until the apples are nicely coated.
  2. Spread the apple mixture evenly on the bottom of the slow cooker.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, softened butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple mixture in the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours until the apples are tender and bubbly.
  6. Once cooked, turn off the heat and let sit for one hour, covered, to allow the caramel sauce to thicken.

Notes

For a vegan twist, substitute butter with coconut oil and use maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
