Description
A comforting shrimp casserole that’s quick to prepare and full of rich flavors, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds large shrimp (21–24 count), peeled and deveined
- 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning, plus 1 tablespoon salt for cooking water
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter, plus more to grease the pan
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 ounces shredded medium cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish with butter.
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add Old Bay seasoning. Cook the shrimp until they turn opaque, about 30 seconds, then drain and transfer them to a bowl.
- Stir in the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper into the shrimp. Mix until fully coated.
- Add shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese, gently mixing to combine. Transfer this mixture into the greased casserole dish.
- Melt butter in a small skillet and stir in panko bread crumbs, then sprinkle this over the shrimp mixture.
- Bake uncovered for about 13-15 minutes, or until the casserole reaches 145°F. Broil for 1-2 minutes if desired for a crispy topping. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Allowing the casserole to rest enhances flavors. You can prepare it in advance for easy baking later.
