Description

A heartwarming chicken casserole with creamy sauce, tender chicken, and a crispy topping, perfect for gatherings or quiet nights in.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, corn, carrots)
  • 1 package (8 oz) egg noodles, cooked and drained
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs for topping
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Gently fold in the cooked egg noodles and frozen mixed vegetables until evenly coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Combine crushed crackers or breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle over the cheese layer.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until heated through and the top is golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil for the last couple of minutes. You can prepare the casserole in advance and bake later.
