Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a buttered baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  6. Dot the top with additional butter for a golden finish.
  7. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  9. Allow to rest before serving.
