Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Zest of 2 lemons
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch pan for easy removal after baking.
- In a bowl, melt the butter and mix in the granulated sugar until well combined and creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the lemon zest and juice.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the cooled brownies and allow them to set before cutting them into squares for serving.
Notes
Using fresh lemons instead of bottled juice gives a brighter flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
