A creamy delight effortlessly made in a slow cooker, this Butter Chicken brings rich flavors and warmth to your table.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Layer the chopped onions, minced garlic, and ginger at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Place chicken thighs atop the onion mixture.
  3. Pour tomato puree over the chicken, ensuring every piece is coated.
  4. Sprinkle garam masala, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper over everything, then stir gently.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, stir in butter and heavy cream until smooth.
  7. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving warm with rice or naan.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute chicken with canned chickpeas and use coconut cream.
