Description
A show-stopping breakfast bake featuring warm, chocolate-filled croissants enveloped in a creamy egg custard, perfect for family gatherings or leisurely brunches.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 Croissants, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- 2 cups Whole Milk
- 4 large Eggs
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar, for dusting
- 1 cup Fresh Berries or Whipped Cream, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut your croissants into 1-inch pieces and place them evenly in a greased baking dish.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted. Drizzle half of the melted chocolate over the croissant pieces.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the croissants, ensuring each piece is soaked thoroughly. Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate on top.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 15 minutes to soak up the flavors.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and slightly set.
- Let the baked dish cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
Use slightly stale croissants for better absorption. Experiment with different types of chocolate and flavors.
