Ingredients

  • 12 oz short pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 lb chicken sausage, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for added heat

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving about half a cup of the pasta water for later.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook until golden brown on both sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  5. Return the sausage to the skillet, mixing it with the sauce. Add the cooked pasta and toss everything together, gradually adding reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Stir in a tablespoon of butter until melted. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  7. Sprinkle fresh parsley over the top before serving.
