Description

A delightful twist on traditional General Tso’s Chicken, blending sweet, spicy, and savory flavors for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken breasts (cubed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white distilled vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized cubes and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, and garlic salt.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Fry the coated chicken in batches until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes; drain on paper towels.
  6. In another bowl, combine sugar, water, vinegar, soy sauce, and salt, mixing until smooth.
  7. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet over medium heat, stir, and bring to a simmer until slightly thickened.
  8. Add the fried chicken to the sauce, tossing gently to coat.
  9. Serve hot over rice or steamed broccoli.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double-dipping the chicken before frying.
