Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder.
2. Slowly add oil while mixing until the flour looks slightly crumbly.
3. Gradually pour in warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms.
4. Knead for a few minutes until the dough is smooth and not sticky.
5. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes, covered with a clean towel.
6. Divide dough into 16 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
7. On a floured surface, roll each ball into a thin round tortilla.
8. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each tortilla for about 1 minute on one side and 30 seconds on the other.
9. Stack cooked tortillas in a towel or tortilla warmer to keep them soft until ready to serve.
Notes
Use warm water for the best dough texture.
Do not overcook; light brown spots mean they are ready.
Store in an airtight bag at room temperature for a day, in the refrigerator up to 3 days, or freeze up to 3 months.
Reheat briefly on a skillet or wrapped in a damp towel in the microwave.
