A flavorful low-carb pizza casserole that combines the best elements of pizza in a wholesome and satisfying dish.

- 1 pound ground turkey (or chicken)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 cups marinara sauce (low-sugar)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or turkey pepperoni)
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add diced onions, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet, cooking until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using), mixing well.
- Spread half of the turkey mixture into a greased 9×13-inch casserole dish. Top with half of the cheese and half of the pepperoni slices.
- Add the remaining turkey mixture, followed by the rest of the cheese and pepperoni slices.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before garnishing with fresh basil and serving hot.
Notes
This casserole can be prepared up to a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator. You can also freeze it before baking for later use.
