Description

A comforting and easy slow cooker recipe featuring tender chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Generously season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper on both sides.
  2. Place the seasoned chicken in the slow cooker, arranging them so they are evenly spaced.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, marinara sauce, and Italian seasoning. Pour this sauce over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 360 minutes or high for 180 minutes until the chicken is fork-tender.
  5. About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the chicken and let melt.
  6. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, remove the lid in the last 30 minutes to allow steam to escape. You can also sear the chicken for extra flavor.
