Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (for garnish)
Instructions
- Generously season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, salt, and pepper on both sides.
- Place the seasoned chicken in the slow cooker, arranging them so they are evenly spaced.
- In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, marinara sauce, and Italian seasoning. Pour this sauce over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 360 minutes or high for 180 minutes until the chicken is fork-tender.
- About 30 minutes before serving, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan over the chicken and let melt.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, remove the lid in the last 30 minutes to allow steam to escape. You can also sear the chicken for extra flavor.
