- 2 large ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- Optional: A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg
- Optional: A tiny splash of vanilla extract
- Optional: A tiny pinch of salt
Instructions
- Peel the bananas and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to bubble gently.
- Sprinkle the sugar over the melted butter, stirring until combined.
- Gently place the banana slices in the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes on one side without stirring.
- Carefully flip the slices using a spatula and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden and caramelized.
- If desired, sprinkle in cinnamon or nutmeg and add a splash of vanilla extract during the last minute of cooking.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
Best served fresh, but can be prepared in advance. Store in the fridge for up to a day.
