- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 1/2 cups Buttermilk (milk with vinegar or lemon juice can be used)
- 1/2 cup Melted Butter
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Cherry Pie Filling
- 1 tbsp Powdered Sugar (optional dusting)
- 1 cup Whipped Cream
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir until well-mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Gently fold in the cherry pie filling, distributing it throughout the batter.
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions and grease lightly.
- Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the hot iron and cook for about 4-5 minutes until crispy.
- Remove the waffles and keep warm in a preheated oven while repeating with the remaining batter.
- Plate the waffles and top with whipped cream, a dusting of powdered sugar, and extra cherries if desired.
