Description

An irresistibly creamy French toast dish with the flavors of crème brûlée, perfect for brunch or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of brioche or challah bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Granulated sugar for caramelizing

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche or challah into thick slices and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) while the bread soaks.
  5. Bake the soaked bread for 30-35 minutes or until golden and set.
  6. Cool slightly, sprinkle granulated sugar on top, and caramelize using a kitchen torch.
  7. Serve warm with fresh berries or syrup.

Notes

For best results, soak the bread overnight and serve immediately after caramelizing the sugar.
