- 1 (16-ounce) package potato gnocchi
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cook the gnocchi according to package directions, usually about 2-3 minutes until they float. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add garlic and red pepper flakes; cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Stir in the tomato sauce, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Fold the cooked gnocchi into the sauce, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
- In your greased baking dish, layer half the gnocchi mixture and dollop ricotta cheese over it. Sprinkle half the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Repeat the layering, finishing with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to rest for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Don’t overcook the gnocchi and consider customizing with various herbs or spices based on your family’s taste.
