Description

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 16 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 6 slices yellow cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, seasoning it lightly with salt and pepper. Cook for about 6 to 8 minutes until fully browned.
  2. Transfer the browned beef to your slow cooker. Pour in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  3. Set your slow cooker to HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
  4. Once cooked, spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns. Top each with a slice of cheese and let it melt slightly before serving.

Notes

Feel free to add cayenne pepper or jalapeños for extra heat. The flavors improve if prepared in advance.
