Description

A comforting and flavorful dish of tender chicken and fresh broccoli cooked in a savory sauce, perfect for sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 6 cups broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, season the chicken pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. Stir until evenly coated.
  2. In the crockpot, combine chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and hoisin sauce. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the seasoned chicken to the crockpot and give it a gentle stir to ensure every piece is coated with the sauce.
  4. Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  5. Mix 1/4 cup of the sauce with cornstarch in a small bowl until there are no lumps, then stir it back into the crockpot to thicken the sauce.
  6. Lay the broccoli on top of the chicken, cover, and cook on HIGH for an additional 20 minutes, allowing it to steam.
  7. Serve the dish hot over rice, noodles, or cauliflower rice, garnishing with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F for safe consumption. Use fresh broccoli for optimal flavor and texture.
