Description
Comforting cheese puffs combining mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese, perfect for snacks or side dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Oil or cooking spray for frying/baking
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and have everything ready to ensure a smooth cooking process.
- If using fresh potatoes, boil them in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with a little butter and cream until completely smooth. For leftover mashed potatoes, reheat until just warm.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm mashed potatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, eggs, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well blended.
- Use a scoop to form the mixture into golf ball-sized portions, making sure they are evenly shaped for consistent cooking.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking, or heat oil in a deep fryer for frying.
- If baking, place the puffs on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. If frying, carefully add them to the hot oil and fry until they are crispy and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- Allow the cheese puffs to cool slightly. Serve warm for the best cheesy experience, enjoying the delightful aroma and taste.
Notes
You can prepare the mixture a day in advance and store it in the fridge. For longer storage, shape the puffs and freeze them.
