- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup cold milk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold butter, cutting it into the dry ingredients until you have coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl, whisk together the cold milk, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, gently mixing until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead lightly, and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to desired thickness and cut into shapes.
- Arrange the shaped pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
