Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup cold milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter, cutting it into the dry ingredients until you have coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the cold milk, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, gently mixing until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead lightly, and wrap in plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out the dough to desired thickness and cut into shapes.
  8. Arrange the shaped pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they’re golden brown.
