Description

A comforting and flavorful Classic Beef Spaghetti Dinner that brings warmth to your home, perfect for cozy evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground beef (lean or extra-lean)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 28 ounces Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 12 ounces Spaghetti pasta (cooked al dente)
  • 1 tablespoon Salt (for pasta water)
  • 1/2 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Fresh basil or parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot, then add the ground beef. Brown the beef, breaking it up with a spatula, until no pink remains and bits begin to caramelize.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion to the browned beef and cook until translucent, about 4 to 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for about a minute. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine.
  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, reduce heat to low, and let simmer uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of water to a boil, add 1 tablespoon salt, and cook spaghetti until al dente, usually 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Reserve a cup of pasta cooking water before draining. Drain the pasta and either toss it into the sauce or plate pasta then ladle the sauce on top.
  7. Finish with freshly grated Parmesan and torn basil or parsley.

Notes

Resting the sauce before serving enhances flavor. Store pasta and sauce separately to maintain texture.
