- 1 package cream cheese (8 oz)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup blueberries (for folding into the mix)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (for folding into the mix)
- 2 loaves French bread, cubed
- 2 cups milk
- 8 large eggs
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- Zest of 1 lemon + 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup blueberries (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and set the cubed French bread aside in a mixing bowl.
- Blend the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and 1 cup blueberries until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon zest, and remaining lemon juice until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread and fold in the cream cheese mixture until well-coated.
- Transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish and top with remaining blueberries.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden brown and set. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest for a few hours or overnight for richer flavor. Serve warmed with optional toppings such as powdered sugar or whipped cream.
